The DR Environmental Film Festival (DREFF), an initiative of the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), launched its School and Community Gardens Program 2013 with a workshop and creation of a school garden at the René Descartes School in Bani. Continuing with this beautiful and educational activity, the program will be expanded to include schools and community centers on the outskirts of Santo Domingo, through the establishment of 9 new vegetable gardens this year.

Since its inception the program has created a total of 26 vegetable gardens across the country in the provinces of Santo Domingo, Santiago, San Cristobal, Baní, Monte Plata, and Azua.
