Garden Trainning Workshop, FUNDZURZA

April 22, 2013

Zurza, Santo Domingo North, DR.
Participants: 10 members of the FUNDSAZURZA Foundation and Cristiana Cruz Minier, Botanist and Coordinator of GFDD's School and Community Garden Program.

On Monday April 22, Earth Day around the world, a Training Workshop for the Creation of an Organic Garden was held at the Environmental Cleanup Foundation of Zurza, known as FUNDSAZURZA. The event began at 9:00 AM and ended at 12:30 PM.

The goal of the procedure established in the workshop was to get the participants to be proactive about their vision and to create their gardens based on their own analyses and concepts. To that end, they undertook various dynamics, beginning with a personal presentation, which took participants inside the institution to look at the role they play within it. They also looked at their own gardening experience, which helped break the ice and enabled them to see themselves for what they are – an important entity of the community.

The workshop was held in a pleasant atmosphere with the effortless integration of all participants who freely expressed their ideas and needs.

The installation of the Zurza Community Garden will take place on Friday May 3, 2013 at 9:00 AM.

Since its inception the program has created a total of 26 vegetable gardens across the country in the provinces of Santo Domingo, Santiago, San Cristobal, Baní, Monte Plata, and Azua.
